2023 End-of-Year Donation Drive
For this year’s Desert Survivors fundraiser, we champion Emma Lou Davis—an artist, adventurer, free spirit and feminist archaeologist.
Davis was a proponent of an interdisciplinary approach to archaeology that combined anthropology, geology, paleoclimatology, and other fields. In her time, the field was dominated by men, and Davis’ peers often attempted to undermine her when she crafted her own vision of the profession. From her groundbreaking studies in the Mojave Desert, she is today considered an important figure in bringing scientific rigor and credibility to Paleo-Indian archaeology.
